POLICE hunt pair caught on CCTV suspected of stealing a handbag from a Chichester shop.

At about 1.10pm on Sunday, July 4, a local woman used a self-service checkout at Tesco Extra in Fishbourne Road East, Chichester, but on completing her purchase and exiting the store she left behind her handbag, containing personal items and a large quantity of cash.

Within minutes she realised what had happened and went straight back to the shop but the handbag had already disappeared.

The woman in the picture (right), accompanied by the man (left), was seen to take the handbag from the till area and leave.

She is white, in her mid twenties, in red clothing, with dark hair worn in a bun, and appeared to be pregnant.

The man with her is white, in his late twenties, wearing a grey/green t-shirt, hat and face mask.

PC Jack Bowry said; "This was an opportunist theft and we are sure someone will recognise this pair. If you can help please contact us either online or by calling 101, quoting serial 722 of 04/07.

"You can also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
