THESE pictures show hordes of partygoers on Brighton beach for the opening night of a huge music event.

On The Beach, a party on the seaside Madeira Drive, kicked off on Friday night with performances from Carl Cox and more.

The first evening of the sold-out event saw crowds begin to gather on Brighton’s seafront from 5pm, with the event finishing about 10.30pm.

Saturday night’s line-up is set to include Chase and Status, Sasasas, Kings of the Rollers and Inja.

Pendulum, Hybrid Minds ft Tempza, Dimension, Friction ft Linguistics, Kyrist, Mollie Collins, Kaz B2B North Base and DJ Inter are due on stage on Sunday.

On The Beach previously wrote to nearby residents to let them know about the event.

The letter said: "We are very proud to be bringing this special event next to Banjo Groyne on Brighton beach.

"We are really excited to put on our event at this location and will do everything in our power to be good to our neighbours.

"We have created a strong management structure to ensure that we take care of the site and return it in a condition similar to which we received it.

"We hope that our activity here does not disturb your daily life and we hope to see you at the event if you have purchased a ticket."

Organisers say that noise levels will be monitored over the weekend to ensure they do not exceed "strict" limits given by the council.

After the event's closure, organisers said they will work with a waste management company for the clean-up operation for litter and waste.
