POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a car collided with two pedestrians at a bus stop.

The collision occurred on Queens Road in Hastings just after 1am on Saturday, July 24.

Police said a BMW car left the road and collided with a man and a woman who were standing at a bus stop.

The pair were taken to Conquest Hospital in Hastings for treatment.

The man suffered a serious injury to his leg and the woman was treated for minor injuries.

The driver of the car, a 33-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing serious injury and driving while over the prescribed alcohol limit.

He has since been released under investigation for further enquiries to be made.

PC Stuart Kenway is urging anybody with information relating to the incident to come forward.

"We would like to hear from anyone who saw the BMW being driven prior to the collision and the incident itself,” he said.

“Also from anyone who has dashcam or CCTV footage of the collision."
