A TIP has closed today for essential maintenance.
The household waste recycling site in Wilson Avenue, Brighton will reopen tomorrow but work will continue until Friday.
Brighton and Hove City Council has asked people to avoid the recycling site off Old Shoreham Road, Hove as it is expected to be “extremely busy with long queues”.
A spokesman added that the start of the annual Festival of Racing at Brighton Racecourse is also expected to increase traffic near the Wilson Avenue site.

The three-day event begins today with visitors from and wide expected to descend on the racecourse.
People visiting the recycling sites are being reminded to only queue on the smaller access roads leading to the tips and not the major approach roads
Both recycling sites accept household and non-household waste for free.
Opening times for the Hove recycling site are as follows:
• Monday to Friday 8am to 4.30pm
• Saturday 8.30am to 1.30pm
• Sunday 10.30am to 1.30 pm
Opening times for the Brighton recycling site are:
• Monday to Friday 8am to 4.30pm
• Saturday and Sunday 9am to 5pm
