ANOTHER memorable season opener is the last time Albion kicked off a league campaign in League One.

The Seagulls had been in the third tier of English football for five season, but the 2010/11 season saw that run come to an end.

Manager Gus Poyet led his team back to the Championship, winning League One in the process.

The season started in a near perfect manner, with a 2-1 away victory over Swindon Town.

Midfielder Matthew Sparrow made his debut for the club and scored a memorable brace with his goals coming in the 19th and 75th minutes.

Sparrow’s first goal was a fierce left-footed shot from outside the box.

Swindon did pull a goal back in the 80th minute but it was not enough to deny Albion victory.

Albion would go on to win 27 more games and finish with a magnificent 95 points.
