KATIE Price will appear in the new series of Celebrity Masterchef, which starts tonight.

The television personality will appear alongside the likes of Happy Mondays star Bez, Strictly Come Dancing professional Johannes Radebe and actress Su Pollard as they attempt to impress judges with their culinary skills.

Katie, 42, who was born in Brighton, recently launched a petition to make it a legal requirement for anyone opening a new social media account to have to provide a verified form of ID after her son faced online abuse.

When it was announced that she would be taking part in the new series, she took to Twitter to say: "It has been said that I could burn a cup of tea...this should be interesting."

Joining her on the BBC One show are TV star Joe Swash, Blue singer Duncan James, Britain's Got Talent finalist and comedian Nabil Abdulrashid and The Great British Sewing Bee judge Patrick Grant.

The show will be on screens for the next six weeks, and celebrities will be tackling a series of cooking challenges.

They will be judged by renowned chefs such as Tom Kerridge, Nisha Katona, Nieves Barragan Mochaho, as well as a selection of special guest judges.

Katie, however, will not star in tonight's show.

In Episode One, set to be aired tonight, Su Pollard, Rita Simons, Duncan James, Bez and Munya Chawawa will compete in new cooking challenges "Under the Cloche" and "the Street Food Challenge".

The worst performing chef will be knocked out with the four remaining celebrities going on to compete in the next episode, set to be broadcast tomorrow.

The weakest competitor in this round will be knocked out, with just three contestants in the quarter-final on Wednesday.

The top two will go through to the semi-final later in the series.

On Thursday, a new group of five celebrities will compete with the same process, with the worst chef being knocked out each episode until there's just two of the five remaining.

A new group of five will compete in episodes broadcast next week, followed by a final group of five in later episodes. Over the course of the competition, each group of five will be narrowed down to two.

They will then make the final eight and will compete against each other until there is just one chef remaining, who will be named the MasterChef 2021 winner.

Irish broadcaster, author, activist, and YouTube personality Riyadh Khalaf won the BBC show last year.
