A FORMER EastEnders star will open a popular fete that is back after being cancelled for two years due to Covid.
Patcham Duck Fayre will be taking place on the Patcham High School and Junior playing fields in Brighton on August 29.
Organisers are bringing it back with over 60 sideshows and stalls. There will also be children's activities, performers, food outlets, a beer tent and a dog show.
The event will be in an open space to allow for social distancing.
It will be opened at 11am by Carol Harrison, who played Tiffany Mitchell's feisty mother Louise Raymond in the long-running BBC soap from 1998 to 1999.
A spokeswoman said: "Nobody is quite sure why the Patcham Scouts called their local fete a duck fayre.
"We know there was a pond on the green outside All Saints Church, and it is possible ducks would wander down to the village from time to time and be chased back up Church Hill.
"Nevertheless, it is a great name for a great day. We are proud to carry on the tradition to enable the people of Patcham and Brighton to have a great day out."
In 2019, the Patcham Duck Fayre attracted more than 5,000 visitors throughout the day. This year, people will be entertained by Tracy Taylor, a local singer who has performed in the West End.
