WITNESSES are being asked to come forward after a brave woman was assaulted while trying to break up a fight.
The incident took place on Sunday at 2.45am, when a woman attempted to intervene in a fight between two men in Hastings town centre.
Police officers on patrol were approached in Robertson Street to assist a woman lying on the ground with an injured arm.
She was taken to hospital and found to have suffered a fractured wrist.
Police arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of wounding with intent, although he was later released under investigation.
Sussex Police are now appealing for any witnesses with information to come forward.
