A CRASH that has left a child with serious injuries is “deeply shocking”, an MP has said.

Horsham MP Jeremy Quin said his “thoughts are with those affected” by the incident that happened at Ardingly College at 4.30pm on Monday.

Six children and one parent were injured in the accident in College Road, Ardingly, at about 4.30pm on Monday.

An eight-year-old boy was flown by air ambulance to St George’s Hospital in London, where he remains but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Mr Quinn said: “I was deeply concerned to hear of the incident at the College and the injuries sustained.

“It must have been deeply shocking for all involved. Our thoughts are with all those affected.”

Police are investigating the crash and urging anyone who saw what happened, including any relevant dash cam or mobile phone footage, to please get in touch.

The road was blocked while emergency services worked.

Superintendent James Collis thanked the emergency services and members of the public who assisted at the scene.

“Our thoughts are with those there yesterday and their families,” he said.

“The cause of the collision will form part of our investigation, and we ask people not to speculate at this time.

"Thank you to those that have already given details.”
