Brighton and Hove has been ranked as the city with the most Google searches about parking in the UK over the last year.

The research from Co Wheels Car Club revealed that Brighton and Hove had over 3,500 searches per 100,000 people in the city.

Bournemouth and Bristol took up the other podium positions with over 2,950 and 2,200 parking-related searches per 100,000 people in the last year.

Eight of the top ten were towns and cities in the south, while Manchester and Leeds had the most searches in the north.

Brighton being at the top arguably comes as no surprise, with the city well known for having a scarce amount of parking spaces as well as being a popular tourist spot in the summer months.

Meanwhile, Bradford, Middlesbrough and Stoke-on-Trent had the fewest amount of parking related search terms per 100,000 people in the past year, with each city having under 450 searches.

Richard Falconer, Managing Director at Co Wheels Car Club said: "While it should come as no surprise that a number of Brits are actively searching for car parking spaces - a key thing we've recognised over the course of the past 12 months is the significant growth across every city - not one had a decline in searches for parking related terms.

“This can mainly be attributed to more people being out and about as restrictions have eased while, similarly, more people choosing to holiday at home.

“It's clear to see that seaside locations, such as Brighton have been significantly impacted by parking shortages. Surely these numbers suggest Brits need to look into alternative transport solutions?"
