A ROAD was closed for almost 12 hours after an articulated lorry flipped on the A21.

The carriageway was closed in both directions from around 3pm after the lorry flipped on its side and into the treeline yesterday.

Pictures taken from the scene show the truck stranded on its side, with debris littering the roadside.

Officers from Sussex Police were seen enforcing the road closure while recovery crews worked to remove the stricken vehicle.

Several reflected bollards, as well as trees, were pictures wiped out as a result of the crash.

The road closure caused long delays between Hurst Green and Robertsbridge, with queues forming on the surrounding roads.

It is not yet known what caused the lorry to overturn but the A21 reopened around 4am today.

Sussex Police have been contacted for comment.
