RESIDENTS looking to enjoy the last of the summer sunshine can now hire a private garden to have fun with a group of friends.

The private garden experience, provided by New Zealand wine company Stoneleigh, offers the chance to reconnect with friends, family and nature and includes light nibbles and bottles of Sauvignon Blanc to enjoy.

Those looking for a secret escape to the garden in Park Crescent, Brighton, can book a two hour slot for a group of up to six people to unwind for £25, with all ticket sales being donated to not-for-profit organisation Grow2Know, which aims to reconnect people with nature in their communities.

The events are part of a wider campaign by the company to give communities the chance to transform plots of land to places communities can enjoy. Guests can enter details of the plot of land they want to see regenerated through the “National Plottery” when they book their experience.

Wine portfolio director of Stoneleigh Lucy Bearman said: “We want to invite nature and wine loving Brits across the country to slow down, enjoy beautiful urban gardens and our wine with friends and family, while also nominating their favourite community garden spaces in need of regeneration in partnership with Grow2Know.”

Tickets for Brighton’s private garden are available for August 29 and Bank Holiday Monday (August 30), as well as for the following weekend (September 4 and 5).

Stoneleigh is also offering private gardens in Manchester and London, in Muswell Hill and Hackney, for visitors to enjoy.

The company has been aiming to “give back to nature”, by making its new Sauvignon Blanc from 100 per cent sustainably sourced grapes, and planting over 10,000 trees for its biodiversity projects.

Lucy said: “A sustainable partnership with nature is what allows us to create our unique style of wine, so now we want to give back.”

Following the national lockdown, more than 40 per cent of Brits found that nature and visiting local green spaces have become more important to their wellbeing since Covid restrictions began, according to figures from the Office for National Statistics.
