THE DUCHESS of Sussex may allegedly update her engagement ring to include a subtle nod to her new daughter.

Prince Harry proposed to Meghan Markle in 2017 with a five-carat gem reportedly worth £134,500.

The Duchess of Sussex has since updated the ring from a gold band to a thinner diamond-studded band featuring the birthstones of her, Harry and Archie - peridot, emerald and sapphire.

But a royal commentator has suggested she could upgrade the ring to feature her new daughter Lilibet's birthstone - a pearl or alexandrite.

The List's Melissa Willets said the altered ring was apparently Harry's idea, as he also commissioned a conflict-free diamond eternity band for Meghan to celebrate their first wedding anniversary.

"The new engagement ring first debuted at Trooping the Colour in 2019. According to Marie Claire, the band was created to pay tribute to the couple and their son, Archie,” the Express reports.

"The trio's birthstones, peridot, emerald, and sapphire, are incorporated on the underside of the band.

"As for whether or not Meghan will alter her ring now that baby Lilibet Diana is here remains to be seen."

The ring also contains two diamonds from Princess Diana’s personal jewellery collection.

Melissa Willets added: "The first iteration of the ring featured a yellow gold band, and despite this being popular with many brides, Meghan chose to go another route with her ring.

"As Hello! reported, the Duchess of Sussex altered the band to feature diamonds, pumping up the bling factor on the 6-carat bauble, which according to The Knot, is worth an incredible $350,000.”

The Duchess of Sussex’s half-brother recently took a swipe at his famous sibling ahead of his appearance in the Australian version of Big Brother, describing her as “shallow”.

Thomas Markle Junior criticised his sibling in a trailer for the reality show and also gave her husband Harry some advice, telling the Duke “she’s going to ruin your life”.

Mr Markle has reportedly not seen his half-sister in around a decade and, along with Meghan’s father Thomas Markle, is not thought to have met Harry.

Meghan and her half-brother have the same father, but she has a different mother, Doria Ragland.
