A FAMILY food and drink festival is returning this September for the first time since the pandemic.

The popular Big Nibble festival in Horsham is back next weekend, Sunday, September 5, to showcase local chefs and companies from across the area.

This year's Shop Local, Eat Global theme focuses on local artisan producers and will feature a range of high quality food and drink.

Produce is available to take home, to cook or to enjoy on the day.

Throughout the day stallholders will be giving masterclasses, presentations and tastings to visitors.

This year customers can learn about wild mushrooms, local cheeses, pizza making and the health benefits of kombucha tea.

They can also try tutored rum, mead and a selection of gin and beers.

Dotted around the location, in the Carfax, will be pop-up bars and live music performed on the bandstand.

Horsham District Council cabinet member for the local economy Councillor Chris Brown said: “I am really pleased that this popular event is back and that so many local food and drink producers have signed up to showcase their products and share them with the many visitors who will come along.

“It very much supports our ongoing 'Buy Local' business initiatives to rebuild our local economy as we now emerge from lockdown.

“This is the perfect event to promote these hardworking local businesses who have continued to thrive despite unprecedented difficult trading times recently."

A full programme of events and participants will be announced before Sunday.
