THE Brighton Centre's vaccination service is moving to the former Topshop store in Churchill Square.

The centre will relocate to its new location, just a short walk to the former fashion store, and will be open from Monday August 30.

Vaccinations will be available via booked appointments, or walk-ins, from 8.30am.

The service is currently the Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust’s (SCFT’s) largest Covid-19 vaccination centre, delivering up to 3,000 vaccinations a day during peak demand.

Vaccination appointments will continue at the Brighton Centre until 7pm on Sunday August 29 before the move.

In a statement, the SCFT said: "Anyone who has a second dose appointment booked at the Brighton Centre on or after Monday 30 August will be contacted by text message and email and informed about the change of location for their vaccination. The date and time of the appointment should remain the same."

Free parking is available for one hour in Churchill Square’s orange car park for people attending the new site for their jabs.

The new centre will also offer walk in vaccinations to 16 and 17 year olds.

The Brighton Centre site opened in January and has been staffed by more than 150 SCFT workers and over 100 volunteers, every day since.

The team has delivered a total of over 250,000 first and second dose vaccinations at the centre.

The Argus: New vaccination centre in old Top Shop

Siobhan Melia, chief executive of SCFT, said: “I’m so proud of the part SCFT has, and continues to play, in supporting the vaccination programme across Sussex.

“The Brighton Centre was the largest and busiest Covid-19 vaccination centre in the South East and one of the very first that we opened.

"It was an incredible effort to transform the iconic entertainment venue into the efficient centre that it became and now we’re doing it all over again at the Topshop site in Churchill Square."

The old store has been gutted and a giant sign reading "Covid-19 vaccination centre" replaces the clothing store's branding.

It has remained closed and vacant since the collapse of the retailer in February this year.
