AN "IDIOT" driver's inconsiderate parking left cars unable to use a road for hours.

Residents were in Manton Road, Brighton, were left fielding complaints from angry motorists after a car was left parked in the middle of their street last Thursday, blocking access.

One resident  said Highway Maintenance eventually had to help residents rock the car out of the way so that drivers could get through.

She said: "I was in the middle of an assessment for university and we had angry people knocking on our door all day and cars honking as everyone thought it was ours, as it was also parked over our driveway.

"It was there pretty much the whole day until late afternoon/early evening."

Angry notes saying "do not leave your car here again" and "no one can get through idiot" were placed under the car's windscreen wiper.

She then took to Facebook in a bid to find the driver responsible and get them to move.

"Can the person whose car this belongs to down Manton road come and move it," she posted.

"You are parked over our drive and no one can get down the road at all. Had cars honking and angry people knocking on our door all day."

Eventually, officials had to help people living nearby move the car physically so other drivers could use the street.

She added: "It took other residents and a highway maintenance guy to rock the car back and forth out of the way."

When asked whether she saw the driver responsible, she said: "Unfortunately no, we came out of the house to speak to them as we heard the car start but they were already driving off."

When contacted, Brighton and Hove City Council described the parking as "inconsiderate".

A spokesman said: "There are no parking restrictions on Manton Road.

"This means our parking enforcement teams have no powers to act against inconsiderate parking of this kind on that road.”
