POLICE investigating a woman's suspected murder are appealing for sightings of a decommissioned Brighton and Hove bus.

It comes after the body of Helen Anderson was discovered by a member of the public in undergrowth near a busy road.

Dane Messam has been charged with murder with police continuing to investigate.

Officers are appealing for witnesses and have now released an image of a decommissioned double-decker.

Detective chief inspector Emma Vickers, said: “We are continuing to appeal for witnesses in relation to this investigation.

“In particular, we would like to speak to anyone who saw a decommissioned double-decker Brighton and Hove bus in the north London area between 7.30pm on August 20 and 3pm on August 23.

“We are also keen to speak to anyone who saw the same bus either driving or stationary in the Guildford area between the hours of 3am and 4am on August 23.

Ms Anderson, who was from Finsbury Park, north London, was found dead on Monday, August 23. 

The 41-year-old's body was found near the A3 in Guildford.

Helen Anderson’s family paid tribute, saying: "Our dear sister and daughter has gone. We loved you.

"In this life you faced many challenges and still you had a big heart.

"Goodbye dear Helen."

Surrey Police said: "Helen's family are being supported by specially trained officers.

"Her four children are being supported by family at this difficult time."

Messam, of Henry Road in Hackney, east London, has been remanded into custody.

The 52-year-old is due to appear before magistrates in Guildford today.

Another Hackney man, 51, has been released on bail after he was arrested in connection with the death.

Following the incident, a cordon was set up to allow forensic experts to investigate and a murder investigation was started.

The road remained closed for a number of days.

Detective chief inspector Vickers previously said police believed the murder had been committed elsewhere with the victim's body then left in a different location.
