A COASTGUARD helicopter is flying along the coast at Seaford beach this evening.
The RNLI, a coastguard helicopter and the Newhaven mobile coastguard units are currently carrying out a search in Seaford.
A spokesperson for RNLI Newhaven Lifeboat Station said: "A joint operation is currently taking place following a report of a missing person in the area."
A witness on the beach said that the helicopter can be seen flying up and down the beach, towards the Seven Sisters and back towards Newhaven Harbour.
The lifeboat is reportedly moving along the shoreline.
