AN AMBULANCE has flipped off a road after a collision with a car in Pulborough.

The South East Coast Ambulance vehicle was left overturned and badly damaged after the incident in London Road yesterday.

Pictures from the scene show the scale of the crash, as the stricken ambulance appears to have rolled off the main road and down an embankment.

Airbags inside the emergency vehicle were deployed, while one crew member was snapped climbing on top of the ambulance, surveying the damage.

Debris from the incident was left scattered on the road, which is understood to have been closed while emergency services investigated the collision.

Emergency services including fire and police crews were also pictured at the scene as darkness fell.

No one required hospital treatment, the ambulance service said.

The South East Coast Ambulance spokesman said: "We can confirm that an ambulance was involved in a collision with another vehicle shortly after 7pm in London Road, Pulborough.

"The ambulance was responding to a call at the time of the incident and was not transporting any patients.

"Further ambulance crews attended to assess those involved but thankfully no one required further hospital treatment.”
