A MOTHER is raising money to buy a tent so she can go on a camping trip with her four-year-old boy who has cancer.

Last year, doctors told little George Pannell’s parents he had a 50 per cent chance of survival after being diagnosed with stage-four neuroblastoma.

The cancer had spread to his spine, leg bones, pelvis, rib cage and skull.

However, the boy from Rustington "with a love for life" has responded well to treatment.

And now, his mother Roxanne, 36, is raising money so their family of ten can go camping and "make memories together".

She said: "I've never seen such positivity from such a young child who's gone through so much.

"He's so happy and friendly. For most kids, you would think it would really set him back.

"But George takes any chance he gets to have fun."

The family needs a large tent, trailer and fridges to store George's medicine - estimated to cost more than £3,000.

Roxanne says supplies for camping means they can get away multiple times, rather than going on holiday once.

The stay-at-home mum said: "He loves the beach one of his favourite things and did manage to get a couple of days away camping which he really enjoyed.

"We got the idea to get our own tent because he loves camping being by the fire and going to see animals, he has such a love for life.

"But not all his brothers and sisters could come, so he would have to choose which ones to take."

Roxanne said previous regulations meant George could not have immunotherapy twice.

However, she said, the medical board agreed to reverse this as the treatment has been so effective in George's case.

Despite this, the family faces an uncertain future.

His mother said: "He's into his last stage of treatment so we all have our fingers crossed.

"We don't know what the is. In many cases, it returns within the first two years, but we're trying not to dwell on that."

Little George is due to start school this year, where he currently attends nursery in White Meadows Primary Academy, Littlehampton.

Roxanne said: "A tent would be amazing - it would be the first time of all of us would be able to go away together.

"It would mean we would have plenty of opportunities to make these memories with George you don't know what is around the corner."
