BRIGHTON and Hove is home to a range of delicious restaurants to treat yourself and indulge in, and that is especially true if you are a lover of Indian cuisine.

The Argus has compiled a top seven list of the best Indian restaurants in the city, according to travel website TripAdvisor.

Manju’s

With a rating of five out of five, Manju’s on Trafalgar Street is one of the highest ranked restaurants in Brighton, with 86 per cent of reviewers rating their experience as excellent.

Reviewers describe the restaurant as “simply the best” and a “must try”, with “flavourful, fresh and delicious food” and “patient and friendly staff”.

One Brighton reviewer said of Manju’s: “The food is phenomenal - it’s the best Indian restaurant I’ve ever eaten at.”

Bayleaf

Found on St James’s Street near Brighton’s famous Royal Pavilion, Bayleaf is described as a “travellers’ choice” by the website, with a rating of 4.5 and excellent reviews making up 75 per cent of their total on the site.

One reviewer said they stumbled upon the restaurant when visiting Brighton for their anniversary.

“The service was excellent and the food was amazing. The food came out piping hot, all of the servers were very friendly and welcoming, giving the whole restaurant the perfect atmosphere,” they wrote.

Planet India

With a 4.5 rating, Planet India on Richmond Parade offers “good service from really nice people”, according to reviews on TripAdvisor.

More than two-thirds of reviewers rate the restaurant as excellent, with one describing the food as “the best Indian we have ever experienced.”

“Food is wonderful, service is second to none. Try anything on the menu. It’s all authentic. Flavours will blow you away,” another reviewer wrote.

Indian Summer

Another restaurant branded a “travellers’ choice”, Indian Summer on East Street, Brighton has over 1,000 excellent reviews on the website.

Scoring highly for its food, service and atmosphere, reviewers described the restaurant as a “great all-round experience” and “an absolute must”.

Another praised the large portion sizes at the restaurant and said they will be coming back, despite living over three hours away.

The Chilli Pickle

A “Travellers’ Choice” on Jubilee Street, The Chilli Pickle features in the Michelin Guide, describing it as a “laid-back restaurant with a buzzy vibe and friendly service”.

With a rating of four and high scores for its food, reviewers praise the restaurant, with one going as far as to say it was “the best restaurant we ate at in Brighton.”

The reviewer said: “It was recommended to us and I am so happy we listened! The food was just devine and packed full of beautiful flavours.

“It was just incredible and the staff were so friendly. I will 100 per cent be returning when I’m back.”

Curry Leaf Cafe

The restaurant’s kitchens in Ship Street in Brighton and Upper St. James’s Street in Kemptown both score highly among reviews on TripAdvisor, with a score of 4.5.

Both branches of the Curry Leaf Cafe score highly for their food and service, with one reviewer describing it as a “trendy and tasty curry cafe”.

“Unfortunately we are just visiting or we would definitely be back again and again - outstanding,” another wrote.

The Eastern Eye Restaurant

On London Road, Brighton, this “Travellers’ Choice” restaurant scored 4.5 on the travel website, with high praise from reviewers for great service and great food.

One reviewer encouraged others not to wait another minute before going to try their food.

“It was nothing short of amazing - so good. I’m already thinking of when I can try it again,” he said.

“Best Indian restaurant in Brighton without a doubt. Try it - you won’t be disappointed.”
