MOTORBIKE enthusiasts gathered this weekend for the annual reunion of bikers.

The Ace Cafe Reunion Burn Up returned yesterday and saw hundreds take to Brighton's Madeira Drive for the event, as part of the reunion festivities.

It is 25 years since the first Ace Cafe Reunion was first held on the seafront in 1996.

Bikers have been celebrating the history and heritage of London's Ace Cafe, a popular hangout for rockers, bikers and petrolheads that closed in 1969, since the first reunion was held at the original premises in 1994.

This year it is the 27th annual reunion and the 20th anniversary of the cafe having fully re-opened in 2001.

Photos from the event show leather clad participants and spectators roaming along Madeira Drive in the sunshine on Sunday.

Motorcyclists can be seen riding along the new green cycle lane, which was the reason motorbikes were not permitted at the Speed Trials on Saturday, due to safety concerns.

Steve Smith, of the Sussex British Motorcycle Owners Club, was there yesterday: "There definitely isn't as many stalls as usual but it's been a lovely day with the sun shining."

"It's been so well done and the Ace Cafe have put in a lot of effort which is brilliant," he added.

Steve was there with his colleagues along with a tea and coffee stall.

He said that there was not as many bikers there as in previous years as they are normally lining the roads and pavements but that the drive was 'full to the brim'.
