THE creator of a Jeremy Kyle Facebook page has defended the former TV host.

Daniel Martin, 27, co-founded the Bring Back Jeremy Kyle Facebook page in 2019 when the show was axed following the death of a guest.

The group, called the Jeremy Kyle Army, have built up a large following of those who want to see the presenter back on screen.

It was created by Daniel and his friends Chrystal Thorne and Nikki Charters-stephens as a way to garner support for their campaign.

Daniel believes that Jeremy is unfairly blamed for the emotional distress that other guests say they have felt after appearing on the show.

"Isn't it time Jeremy was left alone? These people who went on the show and say it ruined their lives etc, why do they keep going to the papers and reliving it? No one is forced to watch or listen to him," he said.

This comes after Mr Kyle reported he felt “scapegoated” after the show was cancelled following Steven Dymond's death.

More than two years later, Jeremy told The Sun that he felt too low to leave the house and had been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder.

He said of his anxiety: “I used to think ‘get a grip’ when some celebrities talked about those sort of problems.

“But suddenly I realised first-hand you can’t always do that. I never thought they would affect me like they did.”

Former guests have spoken out about the comments, claiming that he had inflicted the same anxiety on others and he "ruined lives".

Daniel said this is an unfair view of the 55-year-old presenter and that guests knew what they were getting themselves in for.

The Argus:

He believes that The Jeremy Kyle show should be brought back to TV because more people are in need of his help.

He said: "This has been a long hard battle but we stand by Jeremy 100 per cent, there are still so many people who need his help with their issues, people will always have issues and conflict in their lives without the Jeremy Kyle Show, the question is where do they go now without it?"

Jeremy recently announced he would be returning to the air, this time via the radio. He will be hosting a Drivetime show on talkRadio.

Daniel said: "We as a campaign are so pleased he is back on the radio, but it would be nice to have him back doing the original show on a different channel."

He added: "He could have people on to talk about mental health, which is another area Jeremy can now talk openly about as he's been there and lived it.

"There are so many people who would identify with this, as was often the case on his show, he could use this to help people further with his engaging opinions."

He still hopes that he and the rest of his followers will see Kyle back on their screens soon.
