A NIGHTCLUB is to host new, early morning, “sober yoga” sessions.

Pryzm in West Street, Brighton, known for its large and popular club nights, will launch its yoga dance party events on Friday, October 1.

The classes will be hosted by local health and fitness experts and will run on a monthly basis.

Gemma West, sales and events manager at Pryzm Brighton, said: “We’re very excited about this new venture which has two amazing dance and yoga teachers and a complete focus on wellness and a positive mindset.

“We wanted to do this following the huge impact the pandemic has had on people’s mental health. With more people returning to work after furlough we feel it will be a really good way to start the day. Everyone is welcome.”

Dance and fitness presenter Charlie Chazel will be hosting some of the classes.

Charlie, who was born in France and now lives in Brighton, says the idea was inspired by a similar early morning party she attended in Paris.

She said: “This is not your normal fitness and dance class. This is new and exciting! It is inclusive and easy to follow.

“Together with a DJ, I will lead the group in an exhilarating dance party that is all about letting go, having fun and feeling good.

“Pryzm is the perfect venue, providing a big space where we can create the right vibe and energy for a wellness community.

“We’re hoping for a large turnout to impact as many people as possible. That is my goal, impacting through joy.”

Lisa Cuerden, a Brighton-based yoga instructor who has taught in Los Angeles, Bali and India, says she is “excited” to be involved in the project.

She said: “People have struggled during the pandemic and lost confidence from being alone and at home.

“We want to give them that connection again, to other people and themselves and help them to find confidence within themselves.

“No previous yoga experience is necessary.”

The Yoga Dance Party events will be held in Pryzm’s main room on the first Friday of the month.
