POLICE investigating a sexual assault on a beach in Bognor have arrested a man.

The assault, which took place in the early hours of last Sunday (September 6).

The victim, a young woman, had been out with friends in town on Saturday evening.

She was taken by a man to the beach in the Esplanade after 3.30am on Sunday, where the sexual assault took place.

Officers arrested a 25-year-old man today from Bognor on suspicion of rape.

He remains in custody.
