THE RNLI is hosting its first fundraising event in almost two years with a summer fayre tomorrow.

The fayre, which is the branch’s biggest annual fundraiser, will be a family day of fun including food, drinks, live performance and over 50 stalls at Fort Road Recreation Ground, Newhaven.

Carol Shewell, events coordinator for Newhaven RNLI, said it will be a great day for adults and kids alike.

She said: “We have got 50 odd different stalls selling all sorts. We’re running our own BBQ and bar, we have also got a fish and chips van, ice cream, donuts so there’s lots of options.

“We have got people singing, dance groups and drumming groups.”

The Newhaven RNLI crew will also be in attendance to demonstrate some of their skills and provide insight into their work.

Carol added: “You’ll be able to meet the crew and people can talk to them about what they do.

“They’re going to do a little demonstration as well to show their skills.

“Stormy Stan is going to be there for pictures, he is our mascot. The children either love him or hate him!"

The Argus:

The fayre will have a wide range of stalls – from those selling clothes to cakes. There will also be a kids funfair, a bird of prey demonstration and lots of other fun for the whole family.

It is supposed to be 20 degrees and sunny on Saturday - so the event is perfect for anyone who wants to enjoy what might be the last of the summer weather.

The event runs from 12.00pm until 4.00pm. For more information, visit Newhaven Lifeboat Events on Facebook.
