A MAN wanted on suspicion of assault was arrested near an ice cream van along the seafront.

Eyewitnesses saw the 47-year-old man taken away and driven off in a police car opposite the Odeon cinema in Kings Road, Brighton this afternoon.

The 47-year-old was wanted by another police force for an interview.

Sussex Police have notified officers of that force of his arrest.

A police spokesman said: “A 47-year-old man was arrested in Kings Road, Brighton on Saturday afternoon, 11 September, wanted by another police force for interview on suspicion of an assault.

“The force concerned has been informed of the arrest.

“No further information is available.”
