A LITTLE boy with cancer has a reason to smile after a tent was found for him to go on holiday.

Last year, doctors told George Pannell’s parents he had a 50 per cent chance of survival after being diagnosed with stage-four neuroblastoma.

The cancer had spread to his spine, leg bones, pelvis, rib cage and skull, however, the four-year-old from Rustington "with a love for life" has responded well to treatment.

His mother Roxanne, 36, was raising money so their family of ten can go camping and "make memories together".

Thanks to generous donations from the community, and a little bit of help from The Camp Shop, the family are one step closer to going on holiday.

Nearly £2,000 has been raised by well-wishers, enough to buy the large tent needed for the family - thanks to a reduction from the shop.

Although money is still needed for other equipment, the family is one step closer to their dream.

Mum Roxanne said: "We have managed to get our tent now.

"The lovely Helen Murray also made it possible for the two teenage girls to have a smaller tent of their own giving them some privacy from all the lads in our tent.

"One of the companies from the camp shop has asked us to make a list of everything we need and want and are going to see if they can get the price lowered to help with our costs.

"Two charities have said they maybe able to give us a small grant towards the cost of things due it all needing to be new, due to George’s treatment and risk of infection, and some of the stuff needed like a fridge where we can alter the temp to store his medication in.

"We have managed to sort out the tow bar ourselves and currently still saving what we can as well towards the bits we need.

"Thank you again for helping us so much and continuing to do so."

His mother previously said: "He's into his last stage of treatment so we all have our fingers crossed.

"We don't know what the is. In many cases, it returns within the first two years, but we're trying not to dwell on that."

Little George is due to start school this year, where he currently attends nursery in White Meadows Primary Academy, Littlehampton.

Roxanne said: "A tent would be amazing - it would be the first time all of us would be able to go away together.

"It would mean we would have plenty of opportunities to make these memories with George you don't know what is around the corner."
