AN order has been issued giving police the power to disperse people gathering in specified areas following reports of criminality.

Adur and Worthing Police have issued the section 34 order for an area of Goring after several reports of "criminality and anti-social behaviour" this week.

The specified area extends from The Boulevard to Maybridge Crescent and includes The Strand.

In a statement online, the police said: "This gives us temporary powers, which can include dispersing people gathering in certain areas.

"We will also have an increased presence to help keep people safe."

The order will was implemented from 5pm yesterday, Wednesday 15, until 5pm tomorrow, Friday 17.
