OKTOBERFEST in Brighton has been cancelled.

The Big Top tent at the The Level in Brighton was set to be transformed into a Bavarian beer hall from October 7 and 10.

The German beer festival is traditionally held in Munich from late September to the first Sunday in October.

However, event organisers have announced the postponement of the event in Brighton.

“Due to mounting pressures with Covid restrictions over the past few weeks, the shortage of resources, including several of our contractors struggling with transportation and staffing challenges, and the cost implications associated with all of this, we've had to take the difficult decision to postpone Oktoberfest Brighton 2021,” they said.

“The decision has been taken to ensure we create a safe and enjoyable festival for all.”

The event will now take place in October 2022.

All purchased tickets will be fully refunded.

Event organisers added: “We note there were previous concerns with the Oktoberfest Brighton event, which was our main priority to improve on this year, in line with the new management team.

“By continuing to push ahead with the 2021 event, we would not have been able to deliver these changes in such a way where the positive impact was felt by all.

“We know this will be upsetting for those who were looking forward to partying 'Deutschland' style, but we want to ensure the future of this event.”

Eva Von Schnippisch was due to host the event, with cabaret acts and musical performers also due to take to the stage

Entry to the event started from 12.50 a ticket, with corporate deals available for bookings of eight for £150.

Tickets for the event had included a three-hour sitting and a pint of craft beer on arrival.
