CALLING all foodies - we want to hear from you.

Do you know a restaurant that makes the best curry? Or do you have a favourite go-to pub that goes the extra mile for customers? You can recognise their culinary excellence and customer service by nominating them for one of our Food and Drink Awards.

As part of our ‘Love Local Hospitality’ campaign to support independent and local businesses struggling in the wake of the pandemic, nominations are now open to give your local chippie, Indian or pub the recognition they deserve.

There are eight categories to choose from in the awards; pub, butchers and delis, fish and chips, cafe and coffee shop, fine dining, European, Indian cuisine, and vegan and vegetarian.

Nominations have been flooding in for venues across Brighton and Sussex.

One of those receiving recognition from people across the city is The Robin Hood pub in Norfolk Place, Hove - voted best pub in the 2019 Bravo Restaurant Awards.

Chris Dodds, owner of the pub, said that it would be a great achievement to win the award in the pub category.

“It would be a testament to the community and the lovely regulars that we have,” he said.

Among those hoping to win the fish and chips award is the mother and son duo at Athena B in Station Road in Portslade.

Matthew Konen and his mum Mary Goznan said it would mean so much for their restaurant to win the award after what has been a “tough and crazy year.”

Matthew said: “I grew up in this shop - fish and chips has been my life. I’ve been peeling potatoes since I was eight.

“It would mean the world to get recognised for all the hard work me and my mum are doing and, of course, the team we have as well.”

The deadline for nominations is this Saturday (September 25) and you can submit your favourites for each category on our website at https://www.theargus.co.uk/promotions/19573622.favourite-place-dine-drink.

The top three finalists in each of the eight categories will be revealed the following week (week beginning September 27), with Argus readers choosing who they want to win next month.
