FORMER Brexit Party MEP Ann Widdecombe has branded the Duke and Duchess of Sussex “professional victims” who are unaware of their privilege.

The 73-year-old was asked for her views on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in relation to Ofcom’s decision not to uphold complaints made against Piers Morgan.

The Newick-born presenter left the ITV breakfast show after comments made about the duchess, sparking more than 50,000 complaints - the most in watchdog Ofcom’s history.

In an interview with the Express, Ms Widdecombe took issue with the Sussexes' "victim" mentality and said the couple continued to moan despite being "privileged beyond belief".

The former Conservative MP said Harry was damaging to the Royal Family.

“On a more serious note, I think Harry is very damaging to the royals, he must be personally very hurtful to the Queen,” she said.

"And I think they should keep quiet. I mean they are privileged beyond belief, and they moan that they were cut off financially. What a joke, $11 million California mansion. It's just unbelievable.

"They are privileged, they are professional victims, they are professional whingers and having said that they wanted privacy they've done nothing except publicise every last detail of life."

When asked her thoughts on the Ofcom decision against Meghan, Ms Widdecombe said she was “cheering”.

"I think it is high time Meghan was cut down to size. I think she's had the most dreadful influence on Harry.

"If ever I made a prediction that was true it was the one that I made on Big Brother and was reviled for the time when I said she could be trouble. Well, I don't think anybody's wondering why I said that."

Harry and Meghan announced on Monday that they will be taking part in a worldwide event urging leaders to adopt a vaccine equity policy to help end Covid-19.

The pair will join the 24-hour broadcast Global Citizen Live in New York on Saturday.

The campaign is calling on G7 countries and the European Union to share at least one billion Covid-19 vaccine doses with those most in need.

The event is part of a number of shows being held in cities including London by the organisation Global Citizen.

Musicians including Ed Sheeran, Sir Elton John, Kylie Minogue, Metallica and Coldplay are scheduled to perform.
