SINGER-SONGWRITER L Devine has announced a show in Brighton in support of her latest release.

The musician is set to take to the stage at Chalk in Brighton on Wednesday, October 6.

Following the release of her latest single Priorities, L Devine, real name Olivia Rebecca Devine, has released her new EP Near Life Experiences: Part 1.

The new project features Priorities, as well as previous single Girls Like Sex and three new songs - Off The Grid, Be In Her Bedroom, Wish That You Saw Me.

Priorities was premiered as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record in the World – an accolade also given to Girls Like Sex, which spent four weeks in the Radio 1 playlist.

Ahead of her show in Brighton, L Devine said her new EP is “overall introspective”.

“I wanted to push the boundaries of pop music but at the same time, really hone in on the lyrics on Near Life Experiences: Part 1,” she said.

“The songs are all different moments of heart-searching, whether about my mental health, who I am in a relationship, my expectations as a woman, or whether I’m good person or not.

“The title is a play on words of near-death experience. To me, it symbolises all the times I thought I nearly knew what the experience of life meant, only to be proven wrong. And that I definitely do not have it all worked out.”

The singer said having explored the experiences of her generation, songs on the EP focus on LGBTQ+ life, female sex positivity and the impact of social media.

Issues of self-evaluation, personal mental health and her identity in relationships are also explored.

As well as her own projects, L Devine has also released a number of collabs with Route 94 (Sad Songs) and Tinie Tempah and Torren Foot (More Life) - both of which were chosen as Tune of the Week at Radio 1.

The Whitley Bay-born musician has amassed 60 million streams to date.
