A TV antiques expert is offering free antiques valuations.

BBC presenter and auctioneer Christina Trevanion is due to visit Durrants retirement village in Faygate, near Horsham, on October 7.

The valuer will give free antiques valuations to residents of the village and the general public.

Christina, who is known for her appearances on the BBC antiques programmes Bargain Hunt, Flog It!, Antiques Road Trip and Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is, will be at the village from 10am to 2pm.

The visit is part of a series of events called The Grand Antiques Tour, which has been organised by Inspired Villages – the operator behind Durrants.

Christina said some “incredible finds” were uncovered on her last visit to Durrants retirement village.

“The community has grown so much over the last few years, so I’m excited to see what other delights people bring along this time,” she said.

“Sometimes the most unassuming things can be worth something and it’s wonderful to see the surprise on people’s faces.

“If you’ve ever wondered how much that painting you inherited is worth or are intrigued to find out more about that little ornament you’ve had for longer than you can remember then come along, I can’t wait to see you.”

The tour will also visit other Inspired Villages communities throughout autumn.

Those with antiques and hand-me-downs are invited to have them valued, while guests are invited to enjoy complimentary refreshments and socialise.

Visitors will also be offered the opportunity to receive a tour of the village and its show homes.

Doors will be open at 9am and Christina will kick off the event with a talk about her experience of working with antiques and filming antiques programmes, as well as giving some behind-the-scenes insights.

There will be two sessions of valuations - a morning slot beginning at 10am and a second in the afternoon at 12pm.

Valuations will be limited to one item per person.

Durrants retirement village in Faygate is home to 171 two and three-bedroom cottages and apartments, with central facilities including a gym, pool, lake pavilion, croquet lawn and library.
