TWO men have been jailed for dealing Class A drugs in Brighton and Hove.

Joaquim Ruela and Itiano Pedro Fernandes-Vinhas were seen acting suspiciously by plain-clothes police officers around the Pool Valley area at midnight on November 24, 2018.

A short time later, the pair were seen leaving the Hostelpoint hostel in Grand Junction Road.

Officers stopped the pair and a third associate nearby and Fernandes-Vinhas and Ruela were found in possession of cannabis.

Both were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply controlled drugs.

A search of a hostel room connected to the pair discovered Class A drugs with a street value of more than £3,000 and more than £1,600 in cash.

Messages on a linked mobile phone also found references to drug dealing, police said.

Ruela, of Bedfordwell Road in Eastbourne, appeared at Lewes Crown Court on July 21 where he was convicted of being concerned in the supply of heroin and crack.

The 28-year-old was sentenced to five years and three months in prison on September 3.

Fernandes-Vinhas, of Manchester, was found guilty of the same charges, as well as being in possession with the intent to supply heroin and crack.

He was jailed for five years and six months in total.
