FOLK singer Laura Marling has announced a tour date in Brighton.

The Brit Award winning musician is due to perform at the Brighton Dome on October 19.

The show in Brighton is part of a 12-date tour of the UK this autumn to celebrate the release of her album Song For Our Daughter.

The tour will be Laura’s first headline dates in the UK in over five years, since she toured in support of Semper Femina in March 2017.

Four of the singers' albums, including Song For Our Daughter, have been nominated for the Mercury Music Prize.

Semper Femina was also nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Folk Album category, as was Song for Our Daughter.

Her latest album was released in April 2020 – four months ahead of its scheduled release, in part due to Covid-19.

The pandemic also caused Laura to cancel most of her 2020 tour dates.

Ahead of the tour, Laura said she has tried to distance herself from "being Laura Marling" and began to explore a new path for her latest release.

She said the songs she wrote after Semper Femina “felt too much like similar rewritings of other ones — like a writer who’ll write the same book over and over again.”

“That was quite painful for me actually,” she said. “It’s the first time I’ve made a concerted effort to not just keep writing the same song again.”

Tickets for the show are on sale now on Laura Marling’s website.
