ASK Italian is helping to bring the theatre industry back to life with a series of new dishes, with proceeds going to support theatre projects.

Six "for theatre" dishes will be sold over October, including tiramisu, beef brisket pappardelle and a trio of arancini, with £1 from each dish being reinvested in theatre initiatives run by the Ambassador Theatre Group.

The restaurant’s branch in Ship Street will see money go towards supporting projects at the Theatre Royal Brighton.

The promotion, which is also taking place in other key cities like London, Glasgow and Manchester, aims to provide support to the theatre industry after being dealt a devastating blow by the pandemic.

Laura Lane, brand manager for Ask Italian, said: “This past year has been a real struggle for many industries. We’ve felt it in our restaurants and we’ve seen it amongst our friends at theatres around the corner from us.

“It’s such an important time to be building community connections and we’re proud to support the charitable work of our local theatres - and of course we can’t wait for our locals to try the new dishes.”

To mark the launch of the dishes, Ask Italian’s flagship restaurant in London will host special musical performances from the cast members of West End show Pretty Woman: The Musical.

Hollie Coxon, head of UK creative learning and community partnerships at Ambassador Theatre Group, said: “We were delighted when Ask Italian approached us to help support this initiative.

“At an exciting time when theatres reawaken and creativity in schools is reignited, this valuable opportunity will bring much-needed theatre experience to schools and groups in our local theatre area - benefitting hundreds of children and young people, teachers and group leaders in the process.”

Customers can also get a passion fruit martini and an espresso martini in the promotion to help support theatres in their community.
