LIAM Gallagher has announced a huge show at Knebworth – the site of the history-making 1996 Oasis gig.

The former Oasis frontman, who released his first solo album in 2017, will return to Knebworth Park in Hertfordshire in June 2022.

In a tweet, Liam wrote: “I'm absolutely buzzing to announce that on 4th June 2022 I'll be playing Knebworth.

“It's gonna be biblical. C'mon You Know. LG x”

The gig will follow the release of Liam's third solo studio album C'MON YOU KNOW in May 2022.

Tickets go on sale on Friday, October 8 with pre-sale tickets available to anyone who places a pre-order for Liam’s new album.

Face value tickets are priced at £65.

Over 25 years ago, Oasis performed to 250,000 across two nights at Knebworth.

The record-breaking gigs saw more than six million people apply for tickets - the greatest demand for concert tickets in British history and the crowning glory of the Britpop era.

Joined by The Prodigy, Manic Street Preachers and The Charlatans, the gigs have gone down in history.

Oasis opened with their hit song Columbia, and almost two hours later, closed with a cover of The Beatles’ I Am The Walrus and a spectacular fireworks display that lit up the grounds of Knebworth House.

Kate Moss, Chris Evans, Mick Hucknall and Martine McCutcheon were among the crowd, which Liam said he wasn’t even able to see the back of because it was so vast.

A documentary about the Knebworth gigs was released in cinemas worldwide on September 23.

The story, directed by Jake Scott, has been told “in the moment” through the eyes of fans who were there and will be built around unseen archive footage from the concert and backstage plus interviews with the band and organisers.

The documentary is produced by Black Dog Films with Noel and Liam serving as executive producers.

Liam said: “Knebworth for me was the Woodstock of the 90s. It was all about the music and the people. I can’t remember much about it, but I’ll never forget it. It was Biblical.”

Noel said: “I can’t believe we never played Rock ‘n’ Roll Star.”

The Gallagher brothers have been embroiled in a feud since the band split in 2009, prompted by a backstage brawl at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris.
