KYLIE MINOGUE’s favourite coffee shop in Brighton is one of the best places for a “quick bite” in the city, according to reviewers.

With a total of 374 reviews, Tripadvisor gives Cafe Marmalade in Eastern Road, Kemp Town, a rating of 4.5, with a five stars for the quality of its food.

While international education company EF Education First described the cafe as one of their “hidden gems” in Brighton.

In a blog post, they wrote: “If you’re a fan of homemade pastries, organic products and delicious coffee, then a visit to Marmalade is an absolute must.

“Hidden away from the hustle and bustle of Brighton, this cafe has fantastic food and drinks, as well as a lovely atmosphere.”

Reviewers seem to agree, with one describing the venue as “unforgettable.”

“Marmalade is so British and one of the best places in Brighton, especially for breakfast but also for lunch. All the staff are lovely and the food is very good,” one review said.

Others praised the friendly staff and said that photos of the food do not do it justice.

“Would return more often if it wasn’t so busy as it’s a tiny little building for how popular it is,” said one a reviewer from Aldershot.

The Australian singer, who headlined Brighton Pride in 2019, revealed on the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show that the cafe is her favourite place to stop for a coffee when she is performing in the city.

Kylie also said that Brighton is her favourite seaside resort in the UK.

She told Zoe Ball: “I’ve got so many good memories of being in Brighton - in fact, one of my producers is based down there who produced A Second To Midnight.

“So I love to go and visit there. Of course, performing at Pride was sensational and I look forward to visiting again.

“And I know a good little coffee shop down there called Marmalade that do a great coffee.”

While the cafe is unfortunately closed for renovation, its store - which boasts a range of home-cooked food, chutney and seasonal hampers - remains open.
