A MAP shows the major diversions in place while the A27 is closed for maintenance work.

The road will be closed between Shoreham and Lancing from 8pm on Friday, October 8, to 6am on Monday, October 11.

According to Highways England, waterproofing material and the joints in a bridge which carries the A27 over the River Adur Viaduct near Shoreham are due to be replaced.

The maintenance work was due to take place over the weekends of September 11/12 and 18/19 but was rescheduled due to a number of events taking place in the area.

A statement from Highways England said the events, along with restrictions to the rail services, would have had “too great an impact on our customers”.

The first half of the maintenance work took place from September 24 to 27, which saw the closure of the A27 eastbound carriageway from Manor Road roundabout to the A283 Shoreham junction.

This weekend's work will see the closure of the A27 westbound carriageway from the A283 Shoreham junction to the Manor Road roundabout.

During the closures, a signed diversion will be in place via the A259.
