THOUSANDS of runners took part in the return of the Brighton Half Marathon.

Paul Navesey, the course record holder, claimed another victory at the annual event on Sunday.

He crossed the finish line in a time of 01:08:10, followed by Marcus England (01:08:55) and James Turner (01:09:29).

For the women, Bobby Searle claimed her first Brighton Half Marathon in a time of 01:22:25.

She followed by Dani Tarleton in second (01:23:03) and Emily Proto in third (01:24:33).

The event, organised by The Sussex Beacon charity, was the 31st Brighton Half Marathon.

Sussex Beacon chief executive Bill Puddicombe said: "We are so happy to be back. Today was a fantastic event, with thousands of runners turning out to support the race.

“The Brighton Half Marathon is the main fundraising event of The Sussex Beacon, but we also raise money for over 30 other charities, so it means a great deal to us to be back putting on this incredible event.

“A huge thank you to all the runners and volunteers who turned out this morning, we couldn't do it without you.”

The 2022 Brighton Half Marathon is due to be held on Sunday, February 27, 2022.
