TRAIN services have been disrupted after a body was found on the line.

Services between Brighton and London have been cancelled or delayed by up to 30 minutes as emergency services attend the scene.

Southern trains between London Victoria and Brighton are currently suspended, with services between Eastbourne and Littlehampton to London terminating at Haywards Heath.

The disruption, as a result of a death in the Croydon area, is set to last until 1pm this afternoon.

National Rail said in a statement that a body was found earlier this morning and that British Transport Police are investigating the circumstances.

The line has been closed in both directions and staff expect the line to remain closed for the next few hours while investigations continue.

National Rail advised customers to plan ahead and allow an extra 30 minutes to complete your journey as services are subject to disruption through East Croydon.

Services may also terminate early on their journey before the advertised destination to reduce the amount of services running in the area.

Tickets are being accepted on any Southern and Thameslink services, Southeastern services between Hastings and London, as well as the London Underground, buses operating in South London, and Tramlink between East and West Croydon.
