AN UNKNOWN liquid was used in an assault which led to a man being taken to hospital.

Police are investigating an assault in Eastbourne on October 6, in which a man was attacked and sprayed with a potentially noxious, poisonous, substance.

Officers were called to Belmore Road at around 10.30am to reports of a man having been assaulted.

On arrival, the victim, a 52-year-old local man, told officers he had been attacked by two men and sprayed in the face with an unknown liquid.

He was taken to hospital by the ambulance service, where he was treated for minor injuries.

Officers conducted a search of the area but were unable to locate the suspects.
