REGISTRATIONS have officially opened for artists to take part in England’s largest arts festival.

The Brighton Fringe festival will run from May 6 to June 5, 2022.

Fees start from £69.30, with artists who sign up before November 26, 2021, set to receive a super early bird discount of up to 30 per cent off.

The tagline for the 2022 event is "stay curious", which Brighton Fringe CEO Julian Caddy says embodies the entire event.

“Curiosity is what drives us to change, to break the mould, to see things in a different way and to be an individual,” he said.

“Brighton Fringe is an open-access festival, enabling people of all backgrounds and perspectives to put on and enjoy creative work.

“It is your platform, and we are here to support you, whether through the bursaries, advice or training that we provide. We also hope that both the reduction and restructuring of our registration fees will help make it easier than ever for people both to take part in and enjoy Brighton Fringe.”

A number of bursaries worth up to £4,000 are also on offer to support wider participation.

The Pebble Trust is offering three bursaries to support young locals, alongside an International Touring Bursary to those ready to tour.

Ironclad Creative is offering two bursaries - the Michael Graney Bursary which supports events with a sci-fi theme and the New Writing bursary for writers on a low income.

New for this year, the Luke Rollason Memorial Bursary supports comedians from groups typically underrepresented in comedy.

There will also be bursaries available from Brighton Pride and Encore Insure - the details of which will be confirmed soon.

The first events, which will all be listed on the Brighton Fringe website and the Brighton Fringe app, will go on sale from December 6, with a second release of tickets on January 31 and the final release of tickets on March 1.

In 2021, Brighton Fringe entertained more than 170,000 people with a programme of 630 events and 7216 performances in 91 venues.

There will also be a programme of free Fringe Academy workshops running from December.
