RESIDENTS have been ‘invited’ to Brighton and Hove ‘Binfest’ in a parody poster shared on social media.

Among those headlining the ‘festival’ include A Flock of Seagulls, The Rat Pack, Trash Talk, and Coldplay.

The ‘event’, which started on October 5 - the day the bin strike began, and continuing “indefinitely, with free admission with proof of council tax payment.

Joel Godden posted the flyer on r/brighton on Reddit, where residents have taken to posting pictures of mountains of waste building up across the city.

He said: “I was inspired to make this poster after seeing the members of the Brighton subreddit all join in posting some absolutely cracking photos of the rubbish piles around the city.

“It really gave me a sense of community and belonging, to see us all united by our fascination with the ever-growing garbage mounds.

“The workers have a right to strike, and there’s not really much any of the rest of us can do about the situation, except try and see the funny side of it, and find some beauty in the chaos.”

Joel’s poster comes as the bin strike continues into its twelfth day, with no resolution agreed between the GMB union and Brighton and Hove City Council.

Earlier this week, the council agreed to hire independent mediators to help in negotiations and have put forward a proposal for consideration by union representatives.

Should an agreement not be reached by both sides, industrial action could continue until November 25.
