POLICE were called after a mum and her 11-year-old son were evicted.

Community union ACORN said the tenant, named only as Chelsea, had been visiting family in Liverpool when her landlord changed the locks of the property and arranged for a removals van to remove her belongings.

They said there was an ongoing dispute between the landlord and the tenant and the police were called.

The union said the situation eventually de-escalated after the landlord allowed the tenant access to get her belongings. She is now currently staying with friends.

A police spokesman said: "On October 11, police were called to a dispute between a landlord and a former tenant at an address in Campbell Road, Brighton.

"There was no cause for any police action other than to ensure there was no breach of the peace.

"The former tenant agreed to return at a later date to collect their belongings."
