A MAN has been arrested and charged following an attack on a woman while she was walking home.
James Cooke, 30, of Peel Road, Brighton, has been charged following a sexual assault in Brighton.
The victim, in her 30s, was walking home along Eastern Road at about 3.45am on September 11 when she was sexually assaulted by a man at the junction of Montague Place and College Street.
Her screams for help were heard by a local resident who came to her aid and the man ran off.
The suspect was later arrested following detailed police enquiries.
Cooke appeared before Brighton Magistrates’ Court on October 7, where he was remanded in custody ahead of a hearing at Lewes Crown Court on November 4.
Police say the victim is receiving specialist support from officers.
