A FIRE which took an hour and a half to be extinguished has left a property “destroyed”.

Firefighters were called to the fire on Timberley Road in Eastbourne at 5.17pm on Monday, October 18.

Fire crews from Eastbourne, Bexhill, Heathfield, Hailsham and Pevensey attended the blaze, while motorists and pedestrians were advised to “avoid the area.

According to East Sussex Fire and Rescue, the fire was extinguished at 6.52pm.

Pictures from the scene of the incident show numerous fire crew vehicles and dozens of staff on the scene.

A witness at the scene said the property was “destroyed” by the fire.

“The fire investigation is ongoing, but seems to be an electrical fire,” he said.
