THE SECONDARY school admissions deadline is fast approaching.

Parents are being reminded not to miss the deadline for school place applications for children due to start at secondary school in Brighton and Hove in September next year.

Applications for secondary schools must be submitted by Sunday October 31.

To apply online, parents must visit the Brighton and Hove City Council website.

A council spokeswoman said: “You’ll find all the guidance and advice you need, including information about catchment areas in our secondary school admissions guide 2022-23.”

Once completed, you will also receive notification of the decision on your application by email on National Offer Day (March 1, 2022).

Parents and carers cannot choose a school, but have the right to express preferences for up to three schools.

In instances where there are more applications for a school than there are places available, council uses admission priorities to decide who gets offered places.

First, second and third school preferences will be considered, alongside everyone else’s preferences.

Children will be offered a place at the highest ranked preference available.

If council cannot offer a place at any of the preferred schools, they will offer a place at the nearest school with places available.

All secondary schools in Brighton and Hove are currently rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted.
