SHOCKED residents described what appeared to be a "mini tornado" ripping through their village last night.
Bad weather in Sussex yesterday and overnight, appears to have culminated in what residents are calling a "mini tornado" in Ferring Village.
One resident has reported how the wind "whipped through our garden. Lifted a heavy glass top out of our garden table up in to the air and smashed it into the side of the house. Whew. Never seen anything like it".
Another commented: "Took my Mums ridge tiles off and they’ve gone through the conservatory roof. Gaffer tape repairs."
The comments were posted on the Ferring Village Facebook page, where several people had reported smashed up broken walls, fences, broken garden furniture and bins that had moved from the front of the house to the back.
Photos from residents Sara and Chris Thwaites posted to the group show the damage to their garden wall following the "tornado".
People in the north of Ferring seem to have experienced the worst of the strong winds according to residents.
